If your alarm delivery device is still based on 2G/3G technology, it must now be upgraded with a new 4G/LTE module. Depending on the alarm system model and vintage, it requires a complete or partial modernization, with a certified alarm system with 4G/LTE module and IP-Internet LAN connection. This is the only way to ensure that your alarm transmission will continue to function reliably after 2020.
From 4 January 2021, Swisscom and Salt will be discommissioning the 26-year-old 2G technology. The shutdown will take place throughout Switzerland in a few weeks.
Sunrise states that the 2G network will continue to be supported until at least 2022, and they have developed a software solution together with partners that allows 2G to continue to operate.
The standard frequency 2100 MHz of 3G will already be switched off by Swisscom for the most part by 2020. As a result, all systems that also have a 3G module will no longer be able to communicate with the standard frequency from 2021. The conversion of Swisscom’s 2100 MHz 3G frequency (UMTS) is only available on the surface-covering 3G with 900 MHz frequency.
Salt and Sunrise will also follow in 2024.
Swisscom will continue to operate the new 3G mobile technology with a frequency of 900 MHz until at least the end of 2024.
All alarm systems of the Jablotron 80 Oasis, which use the 2G-GSM module (mobile technology), must be replaced with the successor model Jablotron 100.
